‍Thomas Keane, MD, MBA, serves as assistant secretary for technology policy and national coordinator for health information technology. An engineer and physician, Dr. Keane previously served in the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology and as a senior advisor to the deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Among other duties, he was an administrator of the COVID-19 Provider Relief Fund and led the development of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) National Nursing Home COVID Action Network. Dr. Keane worked as a finite element software developer and enterprise software engineer prior to training as an interventional radiologist.
