Bio

David J. Glass, MD, is a vice president of research at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, overseeing a group focused on aging and age-associated disorders. He’s also the director of Regeneron’s postdoctoral fellowship program. Dr. Glass teaches courses on experimental design, and on the history and philosophy of experimentation in biology; these courses are given via his senior lecturer position in the Department of Cell Biology at Harvard Medical School, and as an adjunct professor in the Department of Genetics and Development at Columbia University’s Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Glass holds a BS from Columbia University and an MD from New York Medical College, and conducted postdoctoral work at Columbia. He is an elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI), and an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences. He is the co-author of more than 140 peer-reviewed research articles on cell signaling mechanisms in neuromuscular junction formation, skeletal muscle atrophy and hypertrophy, obesity, and mechanisms associated with aging. He is the author of Experimental Design for Biologists, published by Cold Spring Harbor Press, which is now in its second edition.
